Expectations are finally over, and Microsoft unveiled its latest operating system, Windows 11, at today's event. Windows 11 has a new and modern look and provides more features to users.
Microsoft announced the unveiling of its new operating system several weeks before the event, but a few days ago Windows 11 build was revealed and we got to know its appearance and some of its features. The Redmondians have now fully unveiled the operating system.
As we saw in the build, Windows 11 looks similar to the more modern version of Windows 10 in terms of design, and Microsoft was inspired by Windows 10X, the operating system that the company stopped developing. Despite this, Windows 11 is, as the Redmondians said, a major update to the popular Windows operating system.
New design and features of Windows 11
In Windows 11, we are faced with many new elements, from the new Start menu to the newly designed taskbar. In this new operating system, the default icons include the Start button and the Search button in the taskbar. Of course, if you are not interested in this style of design, you can move it to the left, like Windows 10 or older Microsoft operating systems.
One of the most notable changes to Windows 11 is the rounded corners of windows. In this operating system, we are no longer faced with sharp corners, and windows with rounded corners have taken on a more modern look and can also have a positive impact on the user experience.
With each new version of Windows, Microsoft goes to the New Start menu, and the same thing happened with Windows 11. Unlike in the past, I no longer encounter live tiles in the Start menu and have been replaced by simple icons. Live tiles were added to the Redmondian operating system with the introduction of Windows 8.
In the new Start menu, we are faced with apps, recent documents, and a separate search interface. Placing the buttons in the center makes it look like a Mac OS and Chrome OS. Windows 11 also has an improved light and dark mode (Dark Mode).
As mentioned above, if you are not interested in the new location of the Start menu and taskbar buttons, you can move them to the left like Windows 10. In this case, the design of the icons also changes and becomes similar to Windows 10.
Unlike Windows 10, where in the taskbar we see the search bar next to the Start menu button, in the new Redmondian operating system, there is a magnifying glass icon in the taskbar that opens a search box and you can search for various items in it.
Folder icons are more colorful in Microsoft Windows 11 and more attractive than in Windows 10. In this operating system, when you hover the mouse pointer over the open and close windows buttons, several options appear for you to arrange the windows in front of you so that you can more easily and efficiently control the windows on the screen.
Windows 11 supports multi-monitor configuration better than Windows 10, giving users more options for managing them. So apps are displayed correctly on monitors.\
Another feature of Windows 11 is known as "Snap Groups", which is a set of apps that you can easily access through the taskbar.
Microsoft has also redesigned the Ink Workspace section, giving you more personalization and more software support than ever before. The Redmondians have improved the design of this section.
Microsoft also focused a lot on performance in Windows 11. Windows updates will be 40% smaller and perform better in the background. So updates will not bother you when you are working with the device. Windows 11 does a better job of voice typing than ever before.
Support for widgets in Windows 11
Another change in this new operating system is related to widgets, where you can place widgets such as news and weather in different areas of the screen.
Greater compatibility of Windows 11 with touch screen
Redmond has also added new touch gestures to the operating system to increase user efficiency when working with touch screens or tablets such as the Surface series. You no longer need to switch to tablet mode in this operating system, Windows 11 allows you to use the touch screen more easily by detaching the keyboard.
When Windows 11 keyboard to the tablet like the Surface series products to be separated, the operating system automatically and is compatible with touch screen match is found . At this time the taskbar icons change to make them easier to touch. Touch space is also slightly larger in the windows to make it easier to navigate the environment of this operating system.
In Windows 11, when you rotate the screen from landscape to landscape in tablet mode, apps are displayed side by side vertically to make them easier to work with. Windows 11 also supports the same touch gestures on the screen as the touchpad. For example, with a 3-finger swipe on the screen, you can drag the window down or so-called Minimize. The latest version of Windows supports vibrating font feedback. Another feature is equipped with a touch keyboard in the operating system, which looks similar to Microsoft Swiftkey keyboard for mobile phones.
Microsoft Thames in Windows 11
Microsoft Thames integrates directly into Windows 11 for regular and enterprise customers. Thames is in the taskbar and you can use it to keep in touch with family, friends and colleagues. Such a move is different from Microsoft's approach to Windows 10, which used Skype.
In fact, we are dealing with a new chat app based on Microsoft Thames. With this chat program, you can quickly access your recent conversations and make voice calls with multiple clicks. In this program, it is possible to share texts, images and files.
Xbox Features in Windows 11
In this operating system, Xbox has a large share and has become one of the major parts of Windows 11. The auto HDR feature on the Xbox X and S series will be part of Windows 11. Enabling this feature increases the dynamic range for many DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 games, although the monitor must also be HDR compliant.
Microsoft has promised that Windows 11 will play faster and faster than ever before. In addition, another feature of the Xbox S and X series is DirectStorage for Windows 11. DirectStorage requires the latest NVMe drives to reduce game load times on Microsoft OS. Of course, developers must enable this feature as well.
The Xbox Game Pass service is integrated into Windows 11 thanks to the new Xbox app , which also includes xCloud. So users can also stream games from Microsoft Cloud.
New Microsoft Store
Another important change in Windows 11 is related to its new App Store . In this operating system, Microsoft Store has been redesigned and hosts a large number of applications, including Android apps such as Tic Tac and Instagram.
Developers can use their own proprietary engine in applications, and Microsoft does not take part in them. App developers can even go for their own payment system. This approach is completely different from what we see from Apple.
Running Android apps within Windows 11
One of the most important changes in Windows 11 is bringing Android apps to the operating system . Android apps run directly and natively on Windows 11 and can be downloaded through the new Windows Store.
Redmondians use the Amazon App Store to bring Android apps to Windows 11. Apps are made available directly to users through the Windows Store and use Intel Bridge technology. You can also pin Android apps in Windows 11 in Taskbar.
This Redmondian approach can be seen as a response to Apple's work with the M1 chip, which has made it possible to run iOS apps on Mac OS.
At today's event, Microsoft unveiled a tic-tac-toe on Windows 11, and there were other apps in the Microsoft Store, such as Uber. So Windows 11 users will probably have full access to the Amazon App Store. Of course, we still do not know how many devices can support Android apps with Windows 11.
Minimum system requirements for Windows 11
Microsoft has also announced the minimum system required to use Windows 11 . Your device must have at least the following hardware to run the latest Redmond operating system:
- 64-bit dual-core processor with a minimum processing frequency of one GHz
- 4 GB of RAM
- 64 GB of storage space
- 9-inch screen with a resolution of 1366 by 768 pixels
- UEFI BIOS with Secure Boot and TPM 2.0 support
- Graphics card with DirectX 12 support
In this operating system, as you can see above, you must have a 64-bit processor, and Microsoft does not want to release a 32-bit version of Windows 11, but you can still use 32-bit apps on it.
The minimum amount of 32 GB of storage required in Windows 10 has now been increased to 64 GB. This is also true for RAM, and other devices with 2 GB of RAM can not be equipped with the latest version of Windows. If your device does not support UEFI BIOS with Secure Boot and TPM 2.0 support, Microsoft has no guarantee that Windows 11 will work properly.
A big annual update
Unlike Windows 10, which each year receives two big update, Microsoft Windows 11 Rvyhash change every year and wants only a major update for its new operating system release . Given this approach, each update is expected to have more capabilities than the dual updates we saw in Windows 10.
Windows 11 release time
Microsoft wants the public version of Windows 11 on a vacation this year, November to December, the November release . Of course, a trial version will be released next week.
Free update for Windows 10 users
Microsoft provides Windows 11 as a free update for owners of systems running Windows 10. To be able to enjoy the free Windows 11 update, you must have a device with the minimum system requirements of Windows 11 mentioned above.
Although Microsoft has announced Windows 11 as a free update for Windows 10, it is theoretically a free update for Windows 7 to 8.1 users as they can install Windows 10 for free and then Go to Windows 11 to update your system. However, we still do not know if there is a direct way to update Windows 7 to 8.1 to Windows 11 for free.
