There are no reasons to be alarmed, but if they are also being affected by the failures, with the inability to send messages and other content through the Messenger platform, they are not the only ones. The drop-in service is widespread in Europe.
Facebook Messenger failed in Europe
According to the data provided by the DownDetector platform, the faults are felt both on Facebook Messenger and on Facebook, with the peak of occurrences occurring close to 10:00 in Lisbon, more specifically at 9:57 am.
Although Portugal is not "painted" on the map of service failures, we also experience difficulties in communicating via Facebook Messenger. The service failed to connect to the Internet, although the network connection exists.
It is no longer the first time that the Facebook group's services have experienced widespread flaws in service availability. We recall that both Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp are part of the same group.
Facebook and Instagram are also having problems in Europe
Above we can see the alert given by DownDetector, notifying users, through the social network Twitter, of the generalized failures of Facebook services. In Portugal Messenger appears to be the most affected service, but reports of problems on Instagram are also starting to appear.
So far WhatsApp appears to be free of flaws, with the communications platform operating normally. In the meantime, we are waiting for some comment from Facebook itself to clarify the situation and reassure users.
In the past, these failures were linked to errors in the Facebook group's servers, or occasional situations for maintaining them and introducing new functions, however for now, we do not have an explanation for the reported situation.
