The MacBook Air screen appears to be much brighter when you use ... Windows

MacBook Air

If there is a characteristic common to MacBooks this 2020 is its screen with pixels with high brightness and True Tone technology for a richer viewing experience. However, the quality and brightness of the MacBook Air can be further improved , but oddly enough it happens with a program from another firm.

According to a recent test carried out by the NotebookCheck publication the screen of the Apple MacBook Air presents a much better quality while running on Windows . Thus it presents images with higher brightness levels and an even wider color gamut than other superior computers such as MacBook Pro.

The MacBook Air screen gets along better with Windows

According to the results, the screen of the MacBook Air 2020, with Retina display of an IPS LCD panel and QHD resolution (2560 × 1600 pixels), is enough capable of reaching brightness levels up to 550 nits , when you are running Windows 10. The figure varies considerably with respect to the brightness announced by the manufacturer of (400 nits).

The same publication reports that their team tested CalMAN software and a color calibration monitor when running Windows 10. Although macOS was found to be more accurate, the color accuracy difference between operating systems was also said to be minimal, and most users won't be able to tell the difference between the two. Given these results , Apple may limit the screen brightness at the software level to improve color accuracy.

Based on the numbers in this test, the MacBook Air panel can achieve much higher brightness levels than the advertised 400 nits, but Apple wants to keep the distance to the MacBook Pro 13 . Since a brighter panel is undoubtedly a much better sales argument for many customers than a wider color gamut.

In addition, higher performance also affects battery life, another feature that few users negotiate when choosing one device or another.
