RTX Super graphics are already official: this is Nvidia's answer to AMD

Nvidia has already announced its new graphics cards. This new generation has three new models: RTX 2060 Super, RTX 2070 Super and RTX 2080 Super. The first two models will be available in the market starting July 9. The RTX 2080 Super will arrive on July 23.

This is an upgrade in which the performance gain is between 10 to 15% (on average) in relation to what the manufacturer already offers in the market. This is how Nvidia responded to the new AMD graphics that hit the market on July 7.

RTX 2080 Super

This is the most powerful model, and will reach the market with a price of 699 dollars , similar to the base model (which will see its value go down). The upgrade over your base model is not significant. It gains 128 CUDA cores (3072 vs. 2944 base model). The clocks increase significantly, and below we leave you a brief comparison between the two.

RTX 2080 RTX 280 Super
CUDA Cores 2944 3072
Clock Base 1515 1650
Clock in boost 1710 1815
Tensor Cores 368 384
RT nuclei 46 48

RTX 2070 Super

The Super 2070 model hits the market for $ 499 , similar to the RTX 2070 base. This is a model that can be compared to the RTX 2080 (normal). The user gains 256 more CUDA cores compared to the previous model. The base clock goes from 1410MHz to 1605MHz, and in boost it goes from 1620MHz to 1770MHz.

In practical terms, Nvidia speaks of a performance increase of 16% compared to the base model. Although the purchase price is the same, the consumption goes from 175W to 215W, so this should be taken into consideration.

RTX 2060 Super

The most modest model of this line comes to the market $ 399 - plus 50 than the standard model. The user will gain 256 CUDA cores (it gets 2176), and the clocks put it near the normal 2070.

The base clock goes from 1365MHz to 1470MHz. In boost, the increase is much smaller, going from 1650MHz to 1680MHz. Something that should be taken into account is that unlike the base model, the memory goes from 6GB to 8GB. This makes the bandwidth increase by 33%, and should make a difference in terms of performance.

Prices and availability

  • RTX 2060 Super - $ 399 - July 9

  • RTX 2070 Super - $ 499 - July 9

  • RTX 2080 Super - $ 699 - July 23

The great goal of Nvidia with these releases is to combat AMD's most competitive prices. The performance gain should be between 10 and 15% compared to the base models, on average. But we will have to wait for the tests to see how they behave on the "terrain".
