In the publication concerned, it is stated that Project xCloud will support three generations of games. This means that all games available for the Xbox, Xbox 360 and Xbox One will be compatible with this service.
From this, the next Microsoft gaming product will be able to run more than 3,500 games in the immediate, without need of any change to them. For the future, the Redmond company says that more than 1,900 titles are being prepared for Xbox One, making it more than 5,000 to be supported by Project xCloud.
With these numbers, the competition will have to worry. Google has already announced its Stadia, which has the same purpose as xCloud, however, we still do not know how many games will be supported. Indeed, this announcement will certainly put more pressure on the Mountain View company's service.
Project xCloud will build on Azure servers from Microsoft
The software giant reveals that its streaming gaming service will be based on its Azure servers. These share much of their hardware with the Xbox consoles, which powers this enormity of games supported.

For those who are developing games for the Xbox One, Microsoft informs that they have only to worry about the work they have at hand. It will be Microsoft's responsibility to make these titles accessible to all subscribers of Project xCloud.
For games that are already available, this new service will bring them to a panoply of equipment so far unimaginable. Programmers will not have to worry about any additional work or code to make it workable. In addition, all the updates they launch will be immediately available on all supported platforms.
Xbox Developer Kit will now be able to recognize when a game is streaming
In the new development package for Xbox, Microsoft added new possibilities in view of the reality of Project xCloud. From now on, any game will be able to recognize whether it is running from the cloud.
If so, it can adjust its settings for better platform performance. For example, you can adjust the size of your font for smaller screens. If it is a multiplayer game, you can run it from a single server to reduce its latency.
With Project xCloud, Microsoft wants its users to be able to play what they want, wherever they want and with whom they want. Expectations are high - especially after this announcement - now to know when xCloud will be available and the associated costs.
