Intel unveils the i9-9900KS with 5GHz Turbo in all cores

Intel unveiled at Computex 2019 the latest bet on its 9th generation of processors. The Intel Core i9-9900KS is a special version of the i9-9900K, with the great attraction of its eight cores achieving a turbo frequency of 5.0GHz.

The one that was already the most powerful desktop processor from Intel, thus increases its capabilities. To get a sense, the i9-9900K already offered a 5.0GHz turbo, but was only able to do so on one of its cores.

What is expected with all this power, is that this processor has higher energy consumption. It maintains the characteristics of 8 cores, 16 threads and 16MB of L3 cache. But reaching such speeds in all nuclei leads to a considerable increase in energy numbers.

Base model costs around 500 euros

For now, Intel has not announced prices or availability of this new model. If we take into account that the i9-9900K can be purchased in Portugal for prices around 500 euros, it is expected that the new processor reaches our market slightly above this value.

This will not necessarily be a processor for everyone. The price will be told by the clock differences for your base model, and its consumption and easy heating may be good reasons for this to be set aside. Eight 5.0GHz cores in the turbo is no joke, and the cooling system of those who buy this processor will have to be quite effective.

The news was announced during Computex 2019. This is the annual reference event for any computer enthusiast. It takes place in the city of Taipei, in Taiwan, until next June 1.
