Opera adds a free unlimited VPN service to its Android browser

An increasing number of users around the world are using tools to mask their online identity to reject trackers and protect their privacy.

From this point of view, Opera is integrating the VPN service in its Android browser that allows users to establish a private connection between their mobile device and a remote VPN server using 256-bit encryption, with the possibility of choosing a server from a range of positions without the need to open an account to use the service.

By offering a free integrated VPN service, a feature not available in other popular mobile browsers, Opera could recapture some users who preferred Google, Samsung, and the Chinese UC browser.

However, a free VPN service may make some users suspicious, since in recent years there have been cases of VPN services selling information about their customers, moreover, a recent study found that the vast majority of free VPN services are owned by companies Chinese or have other suspicious connections with the nation.

Jan Standal, VP of product marketing at Opera, told VentureBeat that the VPN service in the Android app does not record user activity or attempt to monetize any aspect of the functionality, since Opera monetizes from other unrelated and non-related mechanisms. depends on the monetization of the browser's VPN service. Will you give this browser a chance?
