Rare version of Super Mario Bros is auctioned for an incredible $ 100,000

Heritage Auctions announced on Thursday (14) that a sealed copy of Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) was auctioned for more than $ 100,000.

This copy of Super Mario Bros. not only contains one of the most popular games of all time but is also a rather rare copy of the said game: in addition to being in a good state of preservation, it is currently the only known copy that is sealed by the original sticker.

Wata Games was the one who classified the state of the game and gave the 9.4 note to the box itself, while it was given a rating of A ++ to the sticker seal. It can be understood, then, that the rarity and exceptional condition of this copy of the game had a huge impact on its price.

According to Wata Games, there are only two variations of Super Mario Bros. which were marketed in this way, and it is interesting to note that Nintendo used to finish the box of their games with stickers, unlike today, that the sealing is done with a plastic that surrounds the entire packaging.

Call of Duty 2019 will return to count on the single-player campaign!

At this point, one detail that increases the rarity of this copy is the fact that the boxes of Super Mario Bros. sealed in this way were only distributed in New York and Los Angeles in 1985 and until the beginning of 1986. In other words, this game survived all this time without having been opened, besides having suffered almost no damage although it was not surrounded by the layer of plastic that is used today.
