Google may launch cheaper smartphone to compete with iPhone XR

According to information released by the Nikkei Asian Review, Google plans to launch a cheaper smartphone this year, aimed at attracting even more users into its ecosystem, as well as compete better with Apple, which launched the iPhone XR last year, being this the most affordable of its current family of smartphones.

It seems that Google, which targets customers looking for a more smartphone option, is trying to capitalize on the high values charged by Apple, which help cut the Cupertino company's sales. It is speculated that Google's next smartphone will be priced similarly to the iPhone XR, which costs $ 749 in the US. It is worth remembering that Pixel 3, of the most recent line of Google, was released with a higher price, starting from the $ 799.

In addition to the alleged new smartphone, the company would still be planning to launch other products such as new smart speakers, wearable devices and web cameras. The great goal of these launches would be, in the near future, to be able to implement an ecosystem that allowed to propel the various services of the company, as Apple does with its products.

Rumours suggest that the smartphone has an LCD display instead of an OLED panel, equipped with a Snapdragon 670 processor, 32 GB of storage and 4 GB of RAM, plus the included 12-megapixel camera that is already on the Pixel 3 and a battery of 2.915 mAh.

As all of this are still just rumours, it is unclear when Google will launch the new smartphone, nor whether it will actually do. However, it is correct to state that these issues can be answered in May, the month for which the annual Google I / O event is planned.
