Nvidia finally launches its mid-range GTX 1660 Ti

The wait was great but it finally ended. Nvidia has finally unveiled its new mid-range graphics card - the GTX 1660 Ti. So this graphics card is meant to replace the 'old' 1060 6GB, offering the performance of the GTX 1070.

Speaking of specifications, the GTX 1660 Ti brings us the expected Turing architecture. This is the same architecture we see on the brand's high-end RTX models. In addition, and as expected, this model does not support Ray Tracing or DLSS. Still, we will keep in mind the variable rate shading.

We are talking about a graphics card with the TU116 processor which, although similar to better processors, does not feature Ray Tracing. This model is built under the architecture of 12 nanometers (nm) and has 1536 CUDA cores. We have 6.6 billion transistors, 50% more than the GTX 1060. The memory is a GDDR6 of 6GB.

RX Vega 56 will be the great opponent of the GTX 1600 Ti?

Undeniably, after first impressions, this new graphics card hits the GTX 1060 6GB and Radeon RX 590 points. In fact, we even have superior performance compared to more expensive models, such as GTX 1070 and RX Vega 56. The graphic below demonstrates this.

The GTX 1660 Ti is a graphics card for gamers who want to build a machine at a good cost. So we're going to get a great performance from 1080p to 144Hz in games like Fortnite or Apex Legends. In addition, 1080p to 60Hz in games such as Metro Exodus or Resident Evil 2 make this graphics card one of the most desirable today.

Namely: the price of this model starts at $ 279 (246 euros in direct conversion). Although overclocked models go for close to $ 300. However, AMD has already hastened to lower the price of its RX Vega 56 to compete with the new Nvidia model.
