Security and speed are often two factors that do not get along well with each other, especially when it comes to encryption and privacy. Google has designed and announced Adiantum, a new and fast way to encrypt storage dedicated to low-performance devices.
All high-end devices integrate a cryptographic hardware component that uses the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). Just to ensure increased data security, without sacrificing performance, Google has decided to design a new standard of encryption ad hoc for less powerful devices, such as smartphones with Android Goor wearable devices, which fail to use the AES standard efficiently.
Google is sure of the functioning of Adiantum and explains its operation from a technical point of view in this link. It is hoped that thanks to this new standard, even those who use less powerful devices or those who are beginners with technology can enjoy excellent security.
