Samsung Galaxy J6 +, Xperia XZ1 and Huawei P8 Lite 2017 Gets January Security Patch

The security patches of January 2019 are starting to arrive on board of Samsung Galaxy J6 +, Sony Xperia XZ1, XZ Premium and Huawei P8 Lite 2017. Just a few hours ago we talked about the arrival of the latest monthly security patches for the Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and now three more models are added to the group.

Samsung Galaxy J6 +

Samsung is certainly not the fastest manufacturer to release for the smartphone the new major update of the Android operating system and with Android 9 Pie we have had yet another confirmation, but the speech changes significantly when it comes to monthly security patches : then the South Korean giant stands as one of the most active Android OEMs.

In this regard, Samsung talks about the SMR (Security Maintenance Release), and each month illustrates its content and that of the month of January 2019 has already reached a large group of devices. The latest in order of time is the Samsung Galaxy J6 + low-end model.

The update with the security patches of January introduces the Firmware  J610FXXU1ASA3 and its rollout started today in India and will slowly reach all compatible devices. The corrections contained in this new update are the same ones already illustrated by Samsung. The updated firmware for Galaxy J6 + is already available to download in database SamMobile.

Huawei P8 Lite 2017

Huawei P8 Lite 2017 was one of the most successful models of the Chinese manufacturer, one of those mid-range from the low price but at the same time able to meet the needs of many users.

Although many other models have been introduced in the same price range, both Huawei and HONOR, the Chinese manufacturer has not forgotten the appreciated but not the brand new  P8 Lite 2017 that, after having received at the time the security patches of December 2018, it is now updating to those of January 2019 .

Alongside the latest Google patches, Huawei has also introduced some minor bug fixes, promising improved overall performance. Android unfortunately still remains at 8.0 o'clock version and the EMUI is still 8.0.

The update weighs 105 MB, brings the firmware version  PRA-LX1 8.0.0.400 (C432)  and has already arrived to some Italian users.

Sony Xperia XZ1

Sony Xperia XZ1 is not exactly the latest born of the Japanese manufacturer (which at MWC 2019 could present the brand new and chatted Xperia XZ4 ), but was at the time a top of the range and has a technical equipment still now very respectable, especially in light of the price at which it is now easily available (less than 250 euros).

Xperia XZ1 had received only a few days ago the security patches of December 2018 and now it is already passing to those of January 2019. The base remains of course Android 9 Pie . The new update brings the firmware to version 47.2.A.6.30, weighs 124.8 MB and does not include other news outside of the aforementioned security patches.

Sony Xperia XZ Premium (and Xperia XZ1 Compact)

Sony Xperia XZ1 is not the only smartphone of the Japanese manufacturer to receive this new software update, the other is XZ Premium. As you can see from the screenshots above, the new firmware version is the same ( 47.2.A.6.30 ), the same can be said for the news, limited only to the new monthly security patches. The update for Sony Xperia XZ Premium weighs 121.3 MB and the version of Android remains in this case the 9.0 Pie.

It seems, moreover, the same software update that is coming aboard the Sony Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ Premium is already in roll out for the Xperia XZ1 Compact model.

Have you received these new software updates on your smartphone? Please let us know in the comment box.
