Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P are officially dead

The time of greetings has arrived: Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P will not receive the Android security patches of January 2019, their software support has come to an end.

Today, on the first Monday of the new month and the new year, Google has started the rollout of the new monthly security patches and the availability concerns only Google Pixel 3, Google Pixel 3 XL, Google Pixel 2, Google Pixel 2 XL, Google Pixel, Google Pixel XL and Google Pixel C.

Nothing to do, therefore, for the last two exponents of the Nexus family: the last official update of 5X and 6P should have been that of November 2018 and surprisingly the two devices had also received that of December, but the end of 2018 has also marked that of their adventure.

With today, therefore, it definitively closes an important chapter of the history of the Android operating system. On the other hand, these two latest Nexus smartphones were launched in 2015 and Google had already announced that they would not receive Android 9 Pie.

Waiting to find out if the much talked about Google Pixel 3 Lite and Google Pixel 3 Lite XL will reincarnate the spirit of the beloved Nexus, feel free to take advantage of the comments box below to tell us about your Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P with related strengths and weaknesses.
