JBL began to include the Google Assistant in their headphones last year with Everest series devices and is now expanding Assistant's integration by formalizing the JBL Link Bar soundbar and three new LIVE: LIVE 400BT, LIVE 500BT series headsets and LIVE 650BT.
Each of the three headphone models presented by JBL at CES 2019 offers advantages and disadvantages. All three are able to communicate with the Google Assistant (or Amazon Alexa).
JBL LIVE 400BT is the only on-ear model of the three and promises a 24-hour battery life, while JBL LIVE 500BT will be slightly larger and will gain 6 more hours of battery life.
Both models offer the interesting TalkThru and Ambient Aware modes that promise the user not only to be more aware of their surroundings but also potentially to hold a conversation with other people in the vicinity without having to take off their headphones.
The JBL LIVE 650BT headphones, flagship of the series, will feature an active noise cancellation that will reduce battery life from 30 hours to 20 hours.
At CES 2019 JBL also revealed that Link Bar, its smart hybrid speaker with Google Assistant and the set-top box with Android TV will be on sale this spring.
Unlike existing set-top boxes or smartphone integrated systems, this soundbar is always running and sensitive to the "Hey Google" password 24 hours a day, allowing you to play music, give commands to Assistant and others queries without having to turn on the connected TV screen.
The maximum power is estimated at around 100 W with two 0.8 "/ 20 mm tweeters and four 1.7 x 3.2" / 44 x 80 mm woofers. U n "Privacy Switch" can disable far-field microphones when needed, and Chromecast is integrated to allow audio and video transmission from any device connected to your network.
