Google is working on a foldable smartphone

Is Google developing a foldable smartphone? Google has let a lot of device slip away ahead of time, causing a  gigantic leak of its Android Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL devices.

This removes the iPhone 4 from the throne of the device revealed through information leaks. However, Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin has brought even more revelations.

Murtazin claims that Google had about seven prototypes under development, two of them being the current Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. One of the devices also reported was a foldable smartphone.

Google will bet on a future foldable smartphone and Android compatibility

Last August, the Mountain View company announced official Android support for folding smartphones. Later they registered a patent with the same technology.

Samsung continues to produce "foldable" smartphones, in this case, hinged. The W2019 is an example of this. It has a normal screen and a secondary screen when folding the equipment. In 2018 they also presented a prototype of a smartphone with a physically foldable screen. It should be noted that this device needs to be compatible with Android owned by Google.

Microsoft is another competitor of Google that intends to venture into this area through the Centaurus project. However, everything points to be a  dual-screen notebook with tablet and notebook elements.

In short, we have seen in recent years several companies to announce news and prototypes of folding smartphones. However, we still need technology to mature. Is it in 2019 that we will finally see a Google, Samsung or even Microsoft to take the first official step?
