Street Fighter competitors to receive "professional player" license in
Japan
This week, the eSports scene in Japan has announced the JeSU (the Japanese Esports Union), the union that regulates the games competitions in the country. Through it, companies can name competitors to gain a "professional player" license and compete professionally in the country. In this wave, Capcom revealed on Friday (2) the name of the 22 nominees of the scenario of Street Fighter V to receive this certificate.
JeSU has a similar principle to KeSPA, the governing body of South Korea that takes care of eSports in the country. In Japan, cash-in gaming tournaments are framed as "bets", which makes it difficult for major gaming competitions to win prizes in the country.
In addition to working to make this happen, JeSU will issue licenses that basically allow professional players to participate in top-earning events and earn money from their participation in eSport.
EVO 2018, the largest fighting games tournament on the planet, held an edition in Japan in January.
For Street Fighter V, Capcom indicated the 22 Japanese among the top 100 in the official Capcom Pro Tour 2017 ranking. Only Yusuke "Momochi" Momochi denied the nomination, casting doubt on whether the organization has commercial interests behind that move. The list includes the other names:
Takashi "acqua" Akiyama
Hiromiki "Itabashi Zangief" Kumada
Daigo Umehara
Joe "MOV" Egami
Ryota "Kazunoko" Inoue
Kanamori "Gachikun" Tsunehori
Hiroki "Kichipa-mu" Asano
Goichi "Go1" Kishida
Naoto "Sako" Sako
Tanaka "Daikoku" Yohei
Tachikawa "Tachikawa" Toru
Hajime "Tokido" Taniguchi
Ryo "Dogura" Nozaki
Naoki "Nemo" Nemoto
Tatsuya "Haitani" Haitani
Keita "Fuudo" Ai
Masato "Bonchan" Takahashi
Kenryo "Mago" Hayashi
Masahiro "Machabo" Tominaga
Naoki "Moke" Nakayama
Fujimura "Yukadon" Atsushi
Capcom will bear the responsibility of bearing each player's entry costs on future events and has already confirmed that they will name more names for the list with the future. The EVO Japan 2018 was one of the most recent events in the country, ending in late January with the Korean victory of Lee "Infiltration" Seon-woo in Street Fighter.
Tokido, one of the "Japanese gods of Street Fighter", is on the list
The next major championship in the country will be the Tokaigi 2018, which takes place between the 10th and 11th of February with the best players of Street Fighter V, Tekken 7, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and ARMS.
Good that's good news.
