Sony and Nokia, two brands with a good history of updates for their Android devices. Two builders who need to see their position consolidated in the mobile market. One, back. The other, trying to reverse a cycle that contraction of its market share. Now for the Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra and for the top of the range Nokia 8 we have good news.
Already for their respective builders of 2018 can be of extreme importance. You may decide to stay or leave this market. Although both companies have a good chance of going back to this market, the competition will not give them a rest.
Something that unites them is the dedication and attention given to their consumers. On the Finnish side, now under the baton of HMD Global, it guaranteed that it would upgrade all its current smartphones to Android Oreo that is a good plan if you ask me. Promise that so far is achieving. Now, by 2018 the brand can venture to create new products, these, yes, more daring.
Security update reaches Nokia and Sony
Already on the Japanese side, Sony has also updated all its tops range for Android Oreo and this is something commendable. After all, Oreo is a very exclusive version, not being present in even 1% of all devices that use this platform. The data is from Google itself and speak for themselves.
Now, as the XperiaBlog tells us, for the Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra, its mid-range phablet, a new update arrives with a firmware version number as 42.0.A.4.153. To all users of this device, the update will arrive via OTA ( over the air). It will bring the latest security updates and fixes from Google, this is the security patch for the Android system. It is also the latest compilation, dated January 2018.
This Sony Xperia XA1 still remains on Android Nougat 7.0 and will eventually be upgraded to Android Oreo. The brand did not give an exact date for its arrival but we can deduce that this will happen in the first half of 2018. Until then, at least the security updates are being distributed.
In turn, Nokia 8 also now receives this Android security update. The most recent security patch dated January 2018 is coming to the various world markets and may take a few hours or days to reach you. The most important security patch fix is about eliminating Specter and Meltdown vulnerabilities.
Update has arrived on Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra and Nokia 8
This same update has also reached the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 devices, both mid-range. It has now reached the current top of the range brand. Note that all updates are distributed gradually and phased. That said, it will not reach all users on the same day/hour.
