Qualcomm solved one of the main problems of wireless headphones

At CES 2018, Qualcomm introduced the new QCC5100 chipset, designed for use in fully wireless headphones such as Apple's AirPods. According to the manufacturer, its development allows solving one of the main problems of Bluetooth-headphones.

During the presentation, representatives of Qualcomm said that devices based on the new chip work 25% longer than the most popular wireless headphones on the market, clearly hinting at Apple AirPods. At the same time, the official press release indicates that the QCC5100 provides 65% less power consumption compared to previous solutions. It is expected that the headphones with this chipset will work for about 6-8 hours in the music playback mode.

In addition to increasing the autonomy of headphones, the QCC5100 facilitates more efficient functions such as voice recognition and noise reduction, and interaction with virtual assistants, for example, Alexa, Siri or Google Assistant, will be faster and easier.

The timing of the appearance of the first headphones with the new Qualcomm chip is not yet known.
