HP started global recall of batteries for laptops

HP announced the launch of a global recall of batteries and replacement of a number of branded laptops. The reason for this was the problem with overheating, which could potentially lead to a fire and injury to users. The promotion is completely voluntary, but the manufacturer strongly recommends replacing the battery. Under the cut - a list of devices in the risk zone.

  • HP Probook 640 G2;

  • HP ProBook 640 G3;

  • HP ProBook 645 G2;

  • HP ProBook 645 G3;

  • HP ProBook 650 G2;

  • HP ProBook 650 G3;

  • HP ProBook 655 G2;

  • HP ProBook 655 G3;

  • HP ZBook 17 G3;

  • HP ZBook 17 G4;

  • HP x360 310 G2;

  • HP Pavilion x360;

  • HP ENVY m6;

  • HP Notebook PC.


In some of these models, the batteries are built-in, so HP will replace the batteries in the original service centers for free. In addition, the company released an update to the BIOS, which takes the battery into a special mode so that the laptop can be safely used without a battery, by connecting it to the power adapter.
