Silent Hill 2 remake will stay "faithful to the original", says developer

Bloober Team is taking a "very safe approach to any changes"

Bloober Team is dogged to make a Silent Hill 2 remake "faithful to the original". According to Anna Jasińska , the developer's head of marketing, the title will be modernized without "missing the point".

In an interview with DreadXP , Jasińska explained that aspects of Silent Hill 2 that haven't aged well will be updated, but the "distinct, visceral atmosphere" will be maintained. In her words:

Long-time fans shouldn't worry […]. We have faithfully stuck to the canon of the original story while reworking the gameplay and updating the graphics from the ground up.”

The executive also stated that the studio is taking a “very safe approach to any changes” . The perspective changes and overhaul of the combat system are being made to "make the quirky fear factors more appealing to contemporary audiences".

A cited example is the addition of the “over-the-shoulder camera”, which will change the way the player sees the scenarios compared to the 2001 game.

The Silent Hill 2 remake does not yet have a release date.
