Long by James Cameron rises higher and higher in the ranking after 1 month in theaters
Even the Force was no match for James Cameron . On display for more than 1 month, Avatar: The Water Path surpassed Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) and is already the fourth highest grossing of all time. The film about the blue aliens has already earned US$ 2.075 billion at the global box office, against US$ 2.068 billion for the space saga.
With that, Cameron is the director of three of the four highest grossing films, with Titanic (1997) and the first Avatar (2009), still unbeaten at the top. The classic 1990s romance is even the next film to beat, should The Way to Water go the way of the money.
The plot brings Jake ( Sam Worthington ) and Neytiri ( Zoe Saldana ) facing yet another human threat to the planet Na'vi. This time, the aliens will have help from the planet's aquatic clan.
Avatar: O Caminho da Água is still showing in Brazilian cinemas. The first film is in the Disney+ catalogue .
