The North Gas Field, also known as the South Pars field, is a natural gas field located in the Persian Gulf that is considered the largest field in the world of its kind.

The field covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, and it is divided into two parts, one in the northeast with an area of 3,700 square kilometers, and another in the southwest with an area of 6,000 square kilometers.

The first section is located within the territorial waters of Iran , and is known as the South Pars field, and the second section is located within the territorial waters of the State of Qatar. The field contains more than 51 trillion cubic meters of natural gas, or about 10 percent of the world's total reserves.

In addition, the field also contains approximately 50 billion barrels of oil.

Urengui gas field

A gas field located in central Russia in the north of the Western Siberian Basin was discovered in 1966, and production began in 1978.

In 1981, the first 100 billion cubic meters of natural gas was produced from this field, and in 1984, the process of exporting it to Western Europe for the first time began.

Today, the field produces more than 260 billion cubic meters of natural gas, and about 825,000 tons of oil, and is managed by a subsidiary of the Russian company Gazprom.

In terms of the amount of natural gas reserves in the field, estimated at 10 trillion cubic meters, Urengoy is the second largest natural gas field in the world.
