At the Mobile World Congress 2022 event, Tecno announced the release of a new series of CAMON camera phones with an RGBW sensor manufactured by Samsung. This technology will increase the light sensitivity of the main gadget modules, improving their shooting quality in poor lighting conditions.
The use of the new technology in future Tecno devices was confirmed by the brand's senior product manager Leo Li. Unlike RGB solutions (red, green and blue pixels), RGBW matrices are supplemented with white pixels - according to Samsung, their appearance improves light sensitivity by 1.7 times compared to classic sensors, and also reduces color distortion.
The gadgets will receive 64-megapixel image sensors, which, according to the company, will provide professional-level shooting from a smartphone. And the special Glass + Plastic (G+P) technology effectively increases light absorption by 30%, further enhancing the quality of the final image.
“This technological innovation was created based on user feedback and efforts to create brighter and clearer images, especially in low light and night mode conditions. Its first launch in the Tecno CAMON series brings us one step closer to the dream of bringing DSLR-level photography into the hands of consumers around the world,” said Pang Xuebao, vice president of Samsung Electronics.
The release date of the new series of Tecno smartphones with Samsung image sensors will be announced later.
