Chinese iPhone assembly plant suspends production

Foxconn, one of Apple's main suppliers, has suspended operations at its factory in China. The company announced a forced downtime due to the difficult epidemiological situation in the country - it is expected that this may lead to a delay in the supply of branded equipment to consumers.

According to a Bloomberg report , Foxconn had to suspend its operations in the region due to new restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic. They were introduced by the Chinese government in connection with another outbreak of the disease (more than 3,000 cases) recorded on March 13, 2022. As part of quarantine measures, 17.5 million residents of Shenzhen have been isolated.

The company reportedly managed to partially move production to other sites to offset the impact of the lockdown on output. According to the source, the conveyors will be idle until March 20. This, according to analysts, will affect the delivery time of Apple technology, which recently introduced several new products at once - iPhone SE (2022), iPad Air 5, and the Mac Studio system unit.
