Named types of cars with the highest risk of fire

Insurance company Auto Insurance EZ analyzed about 200,000 car fires that occurred in 2020 in the United States. Based on the data obtained, it was determined which machines have the highest and lowest risk factor.

Of this number, about 100,000 cases occur in gasoline-powered vehicles, 16,000 in hybrid vehicles, and only 52 in electric vehicles. However, these figures are not complete. If we compare the number of fires per 100,000 cars sold, the statistics change significantly.

The leader in the number of fires are hybrid cars: 3,474 units per 100,000 units sold. The second position is occupied by cars with a gasoline engine - 1529 units, and the third place is occupied by cars with an electric motor - a total of 25.1 electric cars.

Thus, electric cars have become the safest from the point of view of accidental ignition. This statistic disproves the myth that electric cars are more flammable than cars with other power plants.
