Gaming PC Industry Grows to $5.74 Billion

NPD Group has prepared a report on the state of the gaming equipment and PC accessories industry. As it turned out, this year was again very beneficial - revenue grew by more than 25%. This is largely due to the restrictions due to the coronavirus, which forced people to look for an alternative to the usual methods of communication and entertainment.

The report highlights the rise in consumer spending on gaming equipment and accessories to $5.74 billion in 2021. 25% growth is not as significant as 62% in 2020, but clearly demonstrates the presence of a sustainable interest in games. Demand for PC microphones and monitors grew the most.

NPD Group also reported a 5% increase in digital content consumption compared to last year 0 to $7.9 billion. The average amount of game time on PC for the year also increased by an hour - up to 7.7 hours per week.

NPD Group's forecasts for 2022 are not so rosy - analysts assure that instead of growth, the gaming industry will face a significant decline caused by excessive sales growth in 2020 and 2021. In addition, the removal of restrictions related to Covid-19 should also affect the decline in demand.
