With the release of MIUI 13, Xiaomi decided to follow the Apple path, dividing its firmware into two versions: for tablets and smartphones. Users are also expected to experience minor visual changes, increased security, and improved interaction of different devices with each other.
During the development of MIUI 13, special attention was paid to optimization: as a result, the smoothness of the system increased in comparison with MIUI 12.5 by 15-52% in applications and by 20-26% in the interface. Now the firmware from Xiaomi takes the first place in the ranking of the smoothest operating systems according to the Master Lu benchmark. In addition, after 36 months of continuous use, system performance is reduced by only 5%.
A completely new proprietary font MiSans has been developed for MIUI 13. It is slightly more compact than the previous one, so it allows more information to be displayed on the screen. In addition, the company has globally updated the widgets. They resemble those in the latest versions of iOS, but, unlike the "apple" OS, you can interact with them in every possible way. Xiaomi has also partnered with Beauty of Science (BOS) to create unique wallpapers for its system.
MIUI 13 has improved the interaction between different devices such as smartphones, tablets, smart watches, TVs, smart home solutions and others. Connecting them to each other has become easier, and now users will have more options, no matter what gadget they have at their fingertips at the moment. The Mi Magic Center function makes it as easy as possible to transfer content from one device to another.
Other changes announced include full support for expandable RAM, improved power saving mode, and new security-related features such as blurring ID cards when entering data in apps. True, the latter are tailored for the Chinese market.
MIUI 13 Pad is fully adapted for large screens. According to Xiaomi, 3000 popular applications have already been adapted for this firmware. In the system itself, it became possible to freely resize the windows of running applications and move them around the screen, as it is implemented in desktop OS. In addition, compatibility with external keyboards has been improved and support for various keyboard shortcuts has been added.
Xiaomi has also announced a new MIUI Home firmware targeting smart displays. After the update, the latter will turn into a smart home control center and will display notifications from connected devices in real time.
Starting today, December 28, MIUI 13 will be available in beta status for Xiaomi MIX 4, Mi11, Mi11 Pro, Mi11 Ultra, Mi11 Lite 5G, Redmi K40 Pro and Redmi K40 smartphones. In January 2022, a stable build will be released for Xiaomi 12X, 12 and 12 Pro, Mi11, Mi11 Pro and Mi11 Ultra. MIUI Fold for Xiaomi MIX Fold will be released in April.
