The laboratory experts conducted a series of tests on the flagship smartphone from Sony, the Xperia 1 III model. Experts decided to find out how much the quality of shooting with the main camera of the gadget has improved compared to its predecessor, and also named the key features of the device.
Sony Xperia 1 III is equipped with three sensors of the main camera with a resolution of 12 megapixels with different optics and aperture values. A feature of the model is a zoom lens with a focal length of 70-105 mm and a variable aperture f / 2.3-f / 2.8. The smartphone is capable of recording 4K video at up to 120 frames per second.
The flagship showed good shutter speed and stable white balance when shooting burst photos. According to experts, the image shown on the display of the device is almost completely consistent with the final image.
Photos taken with the Sony Xperia 1 III are characterized by smooth exposure transitions and natural color rendition when shooting video in good lighting conditions. With a lack of light, the digital noise level remains low.
The disadvantage of the smartphone was the limited dynamic range. Minor noise was occasionally observed regardless of the operating scenario, and autofocus malfunctions during continuous shooting and video recording. Occasionally the unit showed inconsistent exposure when using an ultra wide-angle camera.
Indoors and in low light conditions, sometimes inaccurate display of skin tones, as well as low detail during video recording, was recorded.
The final result of the Sony Xperia 1 III in the global DxOMark ranking is 115 points - on par with the ASUS ZenFone 7 Pro, OnePlus 9 and OPPO Find X3 Neo.
