Samsung will migrate its Android smartphones to Fuchsia within a few years. Famous insider Dohyun Kim announced this on his Twitter.
Kim said the Korean company will gradually phase out Android in its devices and replace the OS. At the moment, all Samsung smartphones are running one version of the OS from Google using a proprietary shell. The specialist's report on the plans of the corporation was confirmed by another well-known insider - Ice Universe.
Instead of Android, the company will use another OS from Google in its devices - Fuchsia. Dohyun Kim did not name the reasons why Samsung decided to abandon the popular operating system. However, he reassured users of the brand's technology by saying that the transition to the new OS will be gradual and will probably take several years.
PhoneArena reporters noted that back in May there were rumors that Samsung was going to replace Android with another operating system. Also in 2018, Bloomberg sources revealed Google's plans. According to insiders, the American company is going to transfer all devices supporting Android and Chrome OS to Fuchsia.
In May, Google unveiled the Fuchsia operating system, targeting the IoT (Internet of Things) segment. At launch, the OS supported first-generation Nest Hub smart displays. Fuchsia has called it "a production-grade operating system that is secure, updatable, inclusive and practical."
