The creation of the MC-21 aircraft with a composite wing is not only a victory for the domestic aircraft industry, but also a victory over Western sanctions. This statement was made by the head of Rostec Sergei Chemezov, Izvestia writes.
The head of the state corporation recalled how in the fall of 2018, foreign partners stopped supplying the components necessary for the production of a composite wing. In this regard, the designers decided to switch to domestic counterparts, which were created, tested and put into mass production as soon as possible.
Earlier, the newest Russian passenger aircraft MS-21 made its maiden flight . According to Chemezov, the airliner proved to be worthy.
“The MS-21 is the world's first medium-range aircraft to be fitted with a composite wing. And the share of composites in its structure is about 40% - this is a record figure in the aircraft industry, ”said the head of the corporation.
Sergey Chemezov also explained that MC-21 is focused on the most massive segment of the passenger transportation market; its main competitors are Airbus of the A320 family and Boeing of the 737 family.
The flight certification program of the MC-21 aircraft was completed the day before . The Russian-made aircraft is expected to receive a certificate in the near future.
