Google has announced the winners of the seventh annual Material Design Award 2021. This year, the best apps were selected in three categories: dark theme, large screen adaptation and use of motion design.
Among the hundreds of participating programs that use Material Design, Google had to select one in each category.
So, the developers of the Meetly application managed to implement the dark theme best of all. Thanks to the special use of colors, they managed not only to convey the individuality of the application, but also to improve readability in the dark.
Todoist demonstrates the best adaptation to the big screen. It was possible to take into account all the nuances in the interface when moving from a smaller diagonal to a larger one thanks to testing many layouts. After choosing the most appropriate layout option, the designers determined which of the components can be resized and by how much to maintain context and readability.
In the category of motion design, Post-it was named the best app, which allows you to transfer notes on paper stickers to the digital world. Although the Post-it developers remained loyal to the Material Design system, they managed to make the animation in their application as real as possible.
