Large energy company goes bankrupt in Germany

German electricity company Neckermann Strom AG, which provides services to roughly 13,000 consumers across the country, has filed for bankruptcy amid surging energy prices, Wirtschafts Woche reported.

The company was founded in 2013 and positions itself as a supplier of clean electricity.

Europe has been experiencing an energy crisis in recent months. A tangible rise in gas prices in Europe began in April-May, when the average spot price for TTF fluctuated in the range of $ 250-300 per thousand cubic meters. In the last days of summer, the value of a day-ahead delivery contract exceeded $ 600, and in early October it crossed the $ 1,000 thresholdL.
