Italy announced a decrease in the effectiveness of vaccination against COVID-19

Higher Institute of Health in Italy: vaccination efficiency drops by 40% after five months.

The effectiveness of vaccination against coronavirus five months after the introduction of the second dose of the vaccine is almost halved - by 40 percent. This was announced on Sunday, December 26, at the Higher Institute of Health of Italy, writes TASS.

“150 days after the end of the vaccination cycle, the effectiveness of the drugs in preventing the disease decreases from 71.5 to 30.1 percent,” the document says.

At the same time, experts say, the effectiveness of vaccination in preventing a severe course of the disease when infected remains high: 92.7 percent in those who were vaccinated less than five months ago, and 82.2 percent in those who were vaccinated more than 150 days ago.

Earlier, scientists from the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) said that the coronavirus is able to penetrate most organs of the body, in particular the heart and brain, and remain there for more than seven months.
