The new stage of the program for the study of the lunar surface within the framework of the prospects for the joint construction of a scientific station on a natural satellite of the Earth with Russia, was approved by China. This was announced on December 28 by the deputy head of the China National Space Administration (CNSA) Wu Yanhua to the Interfax news agency.
Wu Yanhua explained that over the next ten years, three missions will be sent to the moon as part of the fourth phase of the program to prepare for the construction of a scientific station on an Earth satellite together with Russia.
According to the plan, first, an automatic interplanetary station will be sent to the South Pole of the Moon, where it is planned to build a Russian-Chinese scientific station. A space probe will then be sent to the same area, which will collect samples collected from the previous mission and deliver them to Earth. Then a third mission will be sent, the task of which will be to deploy the base model of the scientific station on the Earth satellite.
As a reminder, Russia and China presented a roadmap for the construction of a Russian-Chinese scientific station on the Moon in June. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026, with completion expected by 2035.
