Starting today, WhatsApp messenger will stop working on some devices

Starting today, the popular WhatsApp messenger will no longer function on mobile devices running outdated versions of Android and iOS software platforms. Users of such devices will no longer be able to receive and view messages, images and videos. Information about this appeared on the official WhatsApp support page.

According to the available data, users of dozens of device models will face problems with the messenger. The support page says that for the application to work correctly, you need a device with Android 4.1 or later version of the OS, which supports the function of receiving SMS messages and calls to confirm the number. This means that owners of devices with earlier versions of the operating system will no longer be able to fully interact with the service.

For Apple devices, WhatsApp requires iOS 10 or later to work properly . To maintain optimal performance levels, developers recommend that users update devices to the latest OS version available for download. Also note that WhatsApp messenger can be used on mobile devices running KaiOS 2.5.0 and later, including JioPhone and JioPhone 2.

Users of unsupported devices are advised to switch to newer models, as well as timely save their chat history, access to which may be lost due to the end of support for the gadget. This can be done using the application settings menu.
