Edward Gaming Wins League of Legends World Champion at Worlds 2021

Chinese team Edward Gaming and DWG KIA from Korea met in the final of the League of Legends World Championship . Edward Gaming managed to defeat the opponent in a series of up to three wins.


The first match was won by Edward Gaming, but DWG KIA managed to take the second game. The third fight also remained with the Korean team. As a result, the final was resolved only in the fifth match, where Edward Gaming became the winner.

The team won a base prize pool of $ 2.2 million, which was boosted by sales of themed skins. The team also received personalized gold rings.

The meeting took place at the Worlds 2021 Championship, which was supposed to be held in China, but due to restrictions related to the coronavirus, it was held in Reykjavik, Iceland. The final was held at the closed sports arena Laugardalshöll without spectators. The opening ceremony featured musical performances by PVRIS, Imagine Dragon, Bea Miller, Denzel Curry and JID.


Chinese team Edward Gaming fought for the cup for the first time. DWG KIA has already won in 2020. All matches were played on version 11.19, and the heroes Akshan and Vex were unavailable. Edward Gaming defeated Gen.G in the semi-finals, while DWG KIA made it to the final by defeating T1.
