The smartphone market is facing one of the biggest crises in recent years with several manufacturers failing to meet the production targets previously outlined. By the way, according to the market analysis agency Canalys, Xiaomi is going through one of its worst periods while Apple appears to be going through the dots rain.
At issue is the global shortage of components and semiconductors that resulted in a 6% drop in the volume of smartphones sold in the last quarter. Worst of all? This drop is just the harbinger of what is to come, as there are no quick and effective solutions to the problem.

According to Canalys agency, in the third quarter of 2022 smartphone sales fell 6% yoy 2020. According to this entity, the results attest to the crisis in the sector and indicate new future contractions.
Among the chaos that is felt along the production lines, Apple almost escapes unscathed from these restrictions with the iPhone 12 selling well .
The conclusions have now been released by the agency in question, giving an account of a considerable drop between the third quarters of 650 and 2021.
Note that this drop follows an increase of 23% annual during the first quarter of 2022, as well as an increase of 11% throughout the second quarter of the year.
Now, however, the first signs of problems are appearing with the large manufacturers with the stock of components rapidly depleting. In particular, Xiaomi is seen as the brand most affected by the problem that affects the entire segment. Something that we can see above shaped in the annual stagnation, while the other manufacturers (with the exception of Samsung) would grow.
Apple escapes the shortage of components instead from Xiaomi
Apple has increased its market share from % for 15% in the last quarter. The reasons for this, according to Canalys, are linked to the strong adhesion to new iPhone models 13. Likewise, the manufacturer does not appear to face difficulties in the production of the required units, having taken care of this situation over the last year.
Nevertheless, we have recently announced the possibility of the production of iPhone 12 be decreased in 10 million units. Something that does not seem to affect the overall volume of units available on the market, at least during the period in question.
At the same time we see Samsung keeping its first place. Indeed, the South Korean technologist shows it with 23 % of market share, position unchanged from year to year.

In another focus, we see the BBK brand group Eletronics, VIVO and OPPO slightly increasing their expression. In effect, both manufacturers went from 9% to % market share according to Canalys.

For the average consumer, this can mean inability to buy a new smartphone. They may, for example, be forced to wait longer to have their new Android and/or iOS mobile device.
Finally, on a less than positive note, Canalys predicts that this crisis fade at the end of 2022. Therefore, we will have to live with these delays in smartphone production for much of the next year.
