Samsung unveils 980 Pro solid state drive with heatsink

Samsung is renowned for producing some of the best solid state drives on the market, but they have the disadvantage of not having any cooling, which can negatively impact performance in some situations. The company has decided to fix it and is releasing the 980 Pro drive with a heatsink.

The improved version of the solid-state drive is designed to work seamlessly inside the Sony PlayStation 5 game console. Many manufacturers have already indicated the possibility of installing their drives in the console and Samsung decided not to stand aside. It is worth noting that the drive can be used not only in the console, but also in any other devices where it can fit.

The radiator covers the drive on both sides. On the front side, the radiator has holes for passive cooling in a confined space, on the back side there is nothing remarkable, except for the marking. Sales of the Samsung 980 Pro solid state drive with a heatsink will begin on October 29. The MSRP is $ 249 for 1 TB and $ 449 for 2 TB.
