A new version of Parallels Desktop 17.1 for Mac has been released with improved support for Windows 11 virtual machines and improved overall stability. In addition, Parallels 17.1 fully supports macOS Monterey as the main operating system and also provides improved performance for “macOS Monterey” virtual machines on M1 Macs.
Windows 11 requires a TPM chip, which limits system compatibility with older computers and Intel-based Macs. The Apple Silicon Mac does not have Boot Camp support, and the ARM version of Windows 11 is not officially supported.
The Parallels program supports the vTPM virtual chip, which makes Windows 11 compatible with Intel and Apple Silicon Macs as long as they use the Windows 11 Insider Preview build for ARM.
Microsoft has stated that virtualization is not intended for the latest version of its operating system, or for the subsequent release of Windows 11 Insider Preview builds for ARM. When running Windows 11 on an Apple “M1” and an Intel Mac, be aware of the specific requirements. The new version of Parallels complies with all of them.
In addition, version 17.1 allows you to install Parallels Tools in a “macOS Monterey” virtual machine on an “M1” Mac and use the Copy / Paste function between the virtual machine and the host OS. The default virtual disk size was increased from 32 GB to 64 GB.
The new version of Parallels improves the graphics of several Windows games, including: World of Warcraft, Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition, Tomb Raider 3, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, World of Tanks and Raft. Added support for VirGL in Virtio GPU.
Parallels Desktop 17 has fully migrated to a subscription system with multiple options. You can download the new version of the program from the official website .
