Intel Core i7-12700K is faster than Ryzen 9 5900X in Adobe Photoshop and After Effects

Internet detective Tum_Apisak found performance data for the Intel Core i7-12700K processor, obtained in the Puget Systems benchmark. It is used to measure performance in various Adobe applications used to create media content.

Intel Core i7-12700K is faster than Ryzen 9 5900X in Adobe Photoshop and After Effects

The processor performance was tested in a system with a Gigabyte Z690 motherboard equipped with 128 GB (4 modules, 32 GB each) of DDR4-3200 memory. The test was conducted on the Windows 11 operating system, adapted for the hybrid architecture of the new 12th Gen Intel Core processors.

According to the test results, the Core i7-12700K turned out to be 25 and 40 percent faster than the Ryzen 9 5900X in loads of Adobe After Effects and Photoshop applications, respectively. But in the Premiere Pro video editing application, the chips from Intel and AMD were about the same, but still Alder Lake was slightly faster.

The Core i7-12700K uses 8 high-performance Golden Cove cores and four energy-efficient Gracemont cores. The former operate in the frequency range from 3.6 to 5.0 GHz (in Turbo mode, the frequency of all cores is 4.7 GHz). The maximum frequency of energy efficient cores is 3.8 GHz for one or 3.6 GHz for all cores. The chip is equipped with 25 MB of L3 cache, as well as 1.25 MB of L2 cache for each Golden Cove core and 2 MB for each Gracemont core.

The official announcement of the 12th Gen Intel Core processors is expected on October 27-28. The chips, according to the latest data, should go on sale on November 4.
