Former head of Pentagon software says China won the battle for AI against the United States

Senior Pentagon cybersecurity official Nicholas Chillan said he left office because he believes the US cannot compete with China on artificial intelligence.

The international fight for artificial intelligence is over, and China is the clear winner, according to a former Pentagon official.

Former head of Pentagon software says China won the battle for AI against the United States

Nicholas Chillan, who until his retirement in September this year as the first-ever head of the US Department of Defense's software department, told the Financial Times this week that China has created an irresistible dominance in artificial intelligence, Reuters reported.

"Our country has no opportunity to fight China for the next 15-20 years," Chaillan said in a conversation with reporters. "At the moment, this is already a fait accompli; in my opinion, everything is already over. But whether a war is needed for this or not is a purely subjective question."

The problem is the lack of collaboration between private organizations like Google, which are spearheading the development of an artificial intelligence system in the US, and the US government, Chylan said. On the other hand, Chinese artificial intelligence companies are forced to partner with the Chinese government, which plays a leading role in guiding development, as well as making large financial investments in key technology that will shape the 21st century - if not even the future of humanity itself.

Another key factor holding back the development of artificial intelligence in the United States is the ongoing debate over the ethical and privacy concerns of artificial intelligence technologies such as facial recognition, data collection, and similar controversies.

Chaillan says China has been able to get ahead of the US by ignoring these ethical controversies by looking at China's Social Credit program.

And undoubtedly, the internal power of the Chinese government in such matters is absolute and even extends to other countries, so if it decides that it wants to create an artificial intelligence system that can track people around the planet, it has the means and the power to ensure the creation of such a system. in record time, and no one can stop it.

For this and other reasons, we have been talking for years that Chinese artificial intelligence will rule the world, so it is probably time to come together as a species and chart this course for the future collectively, because it is definitely coming.
