The afternoon of this Monday (4) is marked, for many, by the instability in the social platforms held by the Facebook group. This social network, as well as Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger stopped working in various parts of the world, including Portugal.
Through the Downdetector platform we can verify the extent of complaints regarding the inaccessibility of the services mentioned above . A symptomatic that peaked around 15: 45h in mainland Portugal.
It was from : 15 that the main problems in accessing Facebook platforms began to be felt. Faced with the impossibility of accessing the services in question, users used Downdetetor and other platforms to express their discontent.
Note that most problems were reported for the web version of Facebook, since the problem is felt with lesser expression on mobile platforms. They still exist, so it’s not surprising if your app doesn’t work properly.
As for Instagram, WhatsApp or Messenger, most complaints originate from their mobile versions. They complain about failures in accessing their servers and sending messages to their contacts.
WhatsApp is the platform that registers the most complaints on the Downdetector platform, with complaints reaching a peak of 5617 to the writing of this article. Then we have Facebook with a peak of 4145 complaints.
Messenger is the platform that registers a lower volume of complaints, although they exist and are justified. Hundreds of users realized the impossibility of accessing the service, proving that it is also affected by technical failures.
In view of what has happened, users turn to their main rival, Twitter, to give an account of the problems felt. In addition, there were those who did not miss the opportunity to satirize the situation.
For the time being, we still don’t know what motivated this blackout in today’s main social platforms. For the technical teams of the company founded by Mark Zuckerberg, it is urgent to find a solution to solve this setback.
It is important to remember that this is the second time, in about a month, that Facebook platforms have shown failures in accessing services. A scenario that perhaps deserves to be the target of reflection by those responsible.
