Owners of the 2019 and 2020 Audi e-tron electric vehicles received a free software update, after the installation of which the vehicle's range will increase by about 20 km. The platform can be updated at Audi Service Centers, and new batches of the Audi e-tron 55 quattro will be delivered immediately with the latest software.
With the updated software, the range of the Audi e-tron 55 quattro is 441 km according to the WLTP standard, 453 km are declared for the Sportback. The software platform has received a number of optimizations, including for increasing the useful capacity of the battery. After the upgrade, the e-tron 55 battery of its 95 kWh gives 86 kWh only for driving. In addition, the control of the front electric motor has been optimized. Now, most of the time, it is turned off and de-energized - both motors turn on at once only when more power is needed. "This allows for more efficient use of the main advantage of the concept of asynchronous motors," - said in a press release.
The automaker has also optimized cooling. With the modification of the control system, the volumetric flow rate in the coolant circuit has decreased, and with it, the energy consumption has also decreased. The flexible thermal management system of four separate circuits results in more efficient cooling of high-voltage components. This is important for fast charging and long battery life, as well as for stable handling even under high loads.
Along the way, Audi reported on the success of its electric vehicles. Sales of the e-tron range exceeded 100,000 units in the spring, making it the best-selling car in Norway. In five minutes, the car charges up to a power reserve of 110 km, and up to 80% of the mark takes 30 minutes. The network of 275 thousand stations is present in 26 European countries. The intelligent car algorithm calculates the fastest route, takes into account traffic and driving style of the owner - and based on this data, it calculates the charging schedule.
