A gang of criminals used a fake Game Boy to steal cars

West Yorkshire police have taken down a gang of very resourceful hijackers. They used a device disguised as a Game Boy that hacked cars in seconds.

Before the arrest, Dylan Armer, Christopher Bowes and Thomas Paulson had already stolen five Mitsubishi Outlander cars. The trinity used an unusual gadget - disguised as a Nintendo console. The cost of the device is estimated at £ 20 thousand (2 million rubles).

The fake Game Boy helped criminals bypass auto defenses and start the engine in just a few seconds. Video files were found in Paulson's phone that demonstrated how easy the gadget provided full access to vehicles. The video sequence was accompanied by mocking comments from the hijackers themselves.

Catching the trinity was helped by the city's video surveillance system, which detected the men during the theft of another car. Dylan Armer was remanded in custody for 30 months. Paulson and Boes were sentenced to 22 months in prison with a two-year suspended sentence.
