The news continues the observed trend of periodic improvement of the Facebook group’s instant messaging and communications platform. Now, in effect, it is possible to customize the icons for WhatsApp groups in the Android app.
We have a new customization tool for WhatsApp groups
The novelties were first advanced by the publication WABetaInfo, dedicated to the designs of this instant communication platform. More specifically, they were detected in the compilation with version number 2.20.94.12 for Android.
However, the same news also came to the beta version of WhatsApp for iOS (iPhone), allowing us to customize our WhatsApp groups there as well. According to the aforementioned source, this was one of the most requested news in recent months by users of the Facebook group’s platform.
So, to keep one step ahead of the rival platform, Telegram from Pavel Durov who also recently introduced themes for individual chats, we see customization being placed at the top of the priority list.

As the screenshot visible above, the function appears to be quite simple. In addition to being able to choose the main image for the icon of each WhatsApp group, it will also be possible to set the background color for each icon.
Currently for all users of the messaging app for Android and iOS it will then be possible to configure both features in the icon representation. This possibility will allow, for example, to make a better separation of colors and organization of WhatsApp groups according to themes and/or importance, for example.
However, the aforementioned source suggests that soon we will have even more customization options for WhatsApp groups. The exact range of customization possibilities is still known, but it should include not only the placement and use of stickers (stickers) but also the emojis or “stickers” for WhatsApp.
