High-speed charging is supported by the use of organic and inorganic components in the lithium-ion battery. Instead of graphite, the anode uses nanoparticles of metalloids such as silicon, which increases safety, increases durability and prevents the blistering effect of fast charging.
StoreDot is currently working with Eve Energy to launch production lines in China. So far, nothing has been reported about which automakers will take advantage of the decision, but some brands are already being consulted. The StoreDot 4680 is not expected to start mass production until 2024 at the earliest.
The Israeli company continues to work on fast battery charging technologies, with NASA-sponsored experiments on the ISS planned for the next phase. The permission for them was received in May.
The Powerhouse project is located in the port of Rijnhaven in Rotterdam and is part of the Dutch effort to further rebuild the area.
The total area of the project is 3606 square meters, including a large terrace and a building on three floors. The upper floors of the building also have a balcony to provide the shade needed for the interior. Structurally, this floating office is made of prefabricated wood and is built on 15 concrete floating bridges that are connected to create a strong floating base. Unfortunately, no photos of its interior have been published so far.
The power required for this building is supplied by a set of solar panels (in an area of 800 square meters) that is connected to the battery. Port water is also used as a heatsink to help with heating and cooling. The developers plan to keep the office in its current location for a decade, after which it may be relocated depending on circumstances.
"We designed our floating office to reflect the values of its residents, the Global Center for Adaptation," says Powerhouse. The Rotterdam-based NGO, led by Ban Ki-moon, plans to develop the planning, investment and technologies needed to mitigate climate change.
