Netflix has just announced that it has acquired the copyright to all the works of children’s writer Roald Dahl, best known for his work adapted to the cinema Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
O well-known streaming service had already signed 2018 a contract with the company Roald Dahl Story Company, holder of the copyright. But now Netflix has made it known that it has bought the company.

The purpose of the purchase is for Netflix to produce and make new animation series available, based on 16 books by the British author. Information confirmed by the Executive Co-President of the streaming service, Ted Sarandos, in a joint statement with Luke Kelly, grandson of the writer and managing director of the Roald Dahl Story Company.
The same information is also advanced on Netflix’s Twitter account, in which he also expresses the enthusiasm and potential of this union.
Netflix’s most ambitious venture may involve immersive experiences
Since the 550 agreement that Netflix has director Taika Waititi, also known for his roles in Avengers and Deadpol, and Zootropolis scriptwriter Phil Johnston, working on the creation of a series based on the imagery of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
According to Netflix, this project has sparked the will for a “much more ambitious venture” that could include “animated movies, live action, immersive experiences and much more”.
About the financial part of this acquisition, no details or va flowers. In 550, the Hollywood Reporter magazine stated that the agreement established between the two companies had cost Netflix more than 100 million dollars, that is, about more than 22 million euros.
