As in 2020, Apple introduced four new smartphones this year. The iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max come with many similarities, but there are several points separating them.
One of those points is the maximum magnetic wireless charging speed, known as MagSafe. It is public that this charger can offer up to 15W to compatible iPhones.
iPhone 13 mini maintains 12W limitation on MagSafe wireless charging
Something about the iPhone 12 mini is that it was limited to a peak of 12W, probably because of its size. And as confirmed now by Apple itself, this limitation remains.
As you can read in the support document released by Apple this Friday, the limitation remains. And it's not exactly surprising, considering that the size of the iPhone 13 mini is similar to its predecessor.
“MagSafe is designed to charge iPhone wirelessly quickly and securely. The system intelligently adapts to conditions to optimize iPhone charging at up to 15W of peak power for faster wireless charging. Actual delivered to iPhone will vary depending on power adapter power and system conditions. For iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 12 mini, MagSafe offers up to 12W of peak power", read the official document .
It is important to note that MagSafe charging tries its best to prevent overheating, preserving the health of your battery. Thus, even equipment with support for 15W, not always carry this brand.
