Russia has developed a satellite monitoring system for power grids

The state corporation "Roscosmos" announces the development of a prototype of a universal satellite platform designed for the operational collection and transmission of data on the state of power grids and pipelines.

The specialists of the "Gonets Satellite System" company, as well as the manufacturer of electrical and electronic equipment "Impulse", took part in the creation of the complex.

The development is a compact self-contained device in a waterproof case. A solar-charged supercapacitor is used to provide power. This reliable component can withstand up to 10,000 charging cycles.

Information about the state of power grids and pipelines comes from various sensors, voltage meters, current meters, temperature meters, gas analyzers and other equipment. At the same time, the system, thanks to the satellite channel, can be used where there are no other communication infrastructures.

"The efficiency and uninterrupted exchange of information between the platform and the data collection center is due to the Gonets subscriber terminal integrated into the device, the presence of which provides a stable data transmission channel anywhere in Russia ," the Roskosmos publication says.
