Pavel Durov accused Apple and Google of surveillance and censorship

The founder of the Telegram messenger published a statement in which he criticized the largest technology corporations. He stated that their activities seriously limit the freedom of users, and they themselves abuse the fact that they use smartphones as a tracking tool.

Pavel Durov stressed that despite the fact that over the past 20 years there has been a significant development in technology, users have lost some of their freedom. Decentralized internet and a relatively unrestricted banking system have given way to AI surveillance cameras and total surveillance, he said.

“Today Apple and Google are censoring information and applications on our phones, while Visa and Mastercard are limiting the number of goods and services we can pay for. Every year we give more and more power and control over our lives to a handful of irresponsible corporate leaders whom we did not elect, ” said the businessman.

The entrepreneur is convinced that over the past decade, humanity has become less free. Earlier, the founder of Telegram noted the importance of switching from iOS devices to Android due to the fact that the latter do not restrict the user so much and allow the installation of applications downloaded outside the branded store.
